There have been some exceptional moments like walking through the sun gate at Machu Picchu and seeing Angkor Wat at sunrise, but one of my favourite moments was actually travelling through rural Turkey where I encountered fabulous hospitality and truly unique local culture.

So many! Perhaps gliding through the Okavango Delta (Botswana) in a dug out Mokoro – the perfect way to combine safari with the most unforgettable sunset. Or reaching the Cabo de Hornos (Cape Horn, Chile) after four days spent cruising through some of the most remote wilderness imaginable.

FAVOURITE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
Travel is my passion and I’ve been fortunate to experience many memorable destinations over the years. In recent times, I’d have to say that I found Cuba to be the most fascinating. The people are very warm and also resourceful. The lifestyle is without many “mod cons”, old world cars and architecture but is juxtaposed with a well-respected education and health care system. It’s not uncommon to see youth congregating on a cobblestone street corner to access a wi-fi hotspot while their elders are sitting at low tables in front of their houses playing dominoes. The country is best known for its Salsa music, rum and cigars.

FAVOURITE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
A road trip that began in St Malo, France and took me through the Loire Valley, finishing in Paris has been my ultimate number one travel experience. The food, the wine and the people were all amazing and it was such a joy to explore small villages and vineyards along the way.

FAVOURITE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
Food and wine are always a highlight on my travels. My stay in Kinosaki Onsen didn’t disappoint! I had an incredible kaiseki dinner in such a traditional, tranquil setting. Some courses I wasn’t entirely sure what I was eating, but it was all delicious and presented beautifully.
Another experience that really stands out for me is wine tasting in Beaune, France. With our traditional tastevin cup in hand, Ceri and I made our way down into the candle lit caves, to try some delicious Burgandy wines. A very memorable experience.
