FAVOURITE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
Travel is my passion and I’ve been fortunate to experience many memorable destinations over the years. In recent times, I’d have to say that I found Cuba to be the most fascinating. The people are very warm and also resourceful. The lifestyle is without many “mod cons”, old world cars and architecture but is juxtaposed with a well-respected education and health care system. It’s not uncommon to see youth congregating on a cobblestone street corner to access a wi-fi hotspot while their elders are sitting at low tables in front of their houses playing dominoes. The country is best known for its Salsa music, rum and cigars.
ABOUT ME
I was born in Adelaide and “a lifetime ago” I moved to Melbourne to set off on my long and extensive journey in the Travel Industry. My first position was with Qantas, progressing from Reservations to Travel Centre Manager over 13 years. I met and married my Finnish husband in Melbourne and have since moved backwards and forwards between Melbourne and Adelaide as well as spending the 90s living in the backwoods of Finland – an incredible experience. Along with my family, I’m a very active member of the Finnish Society of Melbourne participating in Cultural (Choir and Folk Dancing) and Sporting activities. We have travelled together to represent Australia in Finnish Baseball (Pesäpallo) World Cups. Another sporting highlight for me was playing Volleyball at the 2009 Masters Games at Homebush. Professionally, after returning from Finland, I’ve worked in Wholesale, Corporate and Leisure Travel.
ON MY TRAVEL RADAR
I have been envious of the numerous clients I’ve made arrangements to travel to Sri Lanka, Japan, Egypt, the Balkans and Iceland. They’ve all returned raving about their experiences. Apart from visiting these amazing destinations, I never tire of travelling to Europe and the Nordic countries - particularly if I’m with my family and visiting friends.
